The APS hit the road to the neighboring state of Mississippi to once again take part in the annual and always anticipated Fossil Roadshow at the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science. This annual event is always a lot of fun and draws big crowds. We always get a chance to see what odd things people are finding across the area, try to help them identify what they have, and often find ourselves stumped. It also makes for a fun road trip for our group as well. The beautiful museum provides a terrific environment with the incredible backdrop of nature surrounding the display area. This year we fill up several tables with mostly Alabama fossils.

It is a great chance to engage and spread the word about the APS and Alabama fossil resources as well as learn about fossils from Mississippi and other states. The below pictures are of Jim with his display, Ashley demonstrating a method of carbon rubbing coal age fossils to reveal details, Carl with his incredible trackways and other fossils, and Bruce engaging with some visitors.
We all enjoy field trips to find fossils but getting the opportunity to engage and share about their importance with interested people is extremely fun and rewarding. These type events are a lot of fun and a big part of what we do. Hopefully you will follow along on our next adventure!
